We're a small, independent team obsessed with making infrastructure simple. No investors telling us what to build. No corporate roadmaps. Just tools we wish existed.
"To give every developer the power of Kubernetes without the complexity, on infrastructure they own and control ."
We believe developers deserve modern infrastructure without the vendor lock-in, the complexity, or the premium price tag.
We've been there. Staring at a Kubernetes tutorial at 2am, wondering why deploying a simple app requires a PhD in YAML. Watching our cloud bills climb while platform providers lock in our data. Feeling trapped between "pay someone else to manage it" and "spend months learning infrastructure."
In 2020, we built the kool CLI to solve the first pain point: making local Docker development dead simple. Developers loved it—the growing open source community proved we weren't alone in our frustration. That success revealed something bigger: the same philosophy could fix cloud deployment.
Kool Cloud exists because we refused to accept the false choice between simplicity and control. You shouldn't have to hand over your infrastructure to get a good developer experience. You shouldn't need a DevOps team to deploy a container.
Simplicity Over Features
The best tool is the one you don't have to think about. We obsess over removing complexity, not adding options.
Developer Freedom
Your infrastructure, your data, your choice. We manage orchestration; you keep full control and can leave anytime.
Open Source First
Built on open tools like k0s and Traefik. We contribute back to the community that made this possible.
No Pressure, No Tricks
Bootstrapped means we answer to developers, not investors. No dark patterns, no artificial urgency.
Built by developers, for developers.
We're a small, bootstrapped team from Brazil. We use Kool Cloud ourselves every day. When something frustrates us, we fix it.
Two developers who got tired of infrastructure complexity and decided to do something about it.
100% Bootstrapped
No VC pressure. We build what developers actually need.
Kool is built on open-source foundations and gives back to the community. Transparency isn't just a value—it's how we operate.
It all started in 2020 with a simple frustration: Docker development environments were hard to set up and harder to share. We built kool CLI to fix that—a free, open-source tool that makes Docker development as simple as kool run.
The response from the community was overwhelming. Developers across the world started using kool for their projects. What began as an internal tool became a thriving open source project with contributors from around the globe.
That same open-source DNA runs through Kool Cloud. We use k0s (CNCF Kubernetes), Traefik, and other battle-tested open tools. When we build improvements, we contribute them back upstream whenever possible.
